The signing of the new "Omukwano" agreement is celebrated today in Kampala!
Despite the extraordinary contingency during these times, Caffè River together with NUCAFE wanted to give a signal of hope, by signing today the new annual agreement, which will allow over 600 families of small coffee farmers in Uganda to participate in the "Omukwano" project and to receive the right remuneration for their efforts.
Best wishes to all of you!

Bufumbo village organic coffee on shipment!
This joyful community lives on the slopes of Mount Elgon, an extinct volcano on the border between Uganda and Kenya, and produces a fantastic washed Arabica coffee, which is traditionally called "Bugisu", from the name of their ethnic group: "Gisu".
They were true forerunners of organic coffee; many years ago they formed the Bufumbo Organic Farmers Association (BOFA) and for years they have been selling us their much appreciated coffee.
When we visited them together with David, Aeden and Rachel from NUCAFE, they wanted to show us their joy for our collaboration and organised a celebration for us with music, traditional dances and the delivery of a precious recognition that in these dull Covid times particularly warms our heart.
Happy weekend everyone!
A mystical apparition: that's the flavor of this portrait of a lady from Bundibudgyo; the aroma is instead the one of the cocoa fruits that surround her. 😮
Don't worry, we are not dedicating ourselves to chocolate! 😂 We were just blown away by this beautiful image kindly provided by our "coffee evangelizer" NUCAFE's David Muwonge 👏 who visited this week those western regions of Uganda where the peaks of Mount Baker descend towards the Congo. In fact, in these areas of medium altitude, populated by Amba and Konzo ethnic groups, in addition to Robusta coffee, cocoa is grown, while further up, beyond the cocoa belt, Arabica coffee is found.
Thanks David for the tireless work and good weekend everyone!
The Sisters of SaintTeresa (Banyatereza Sisters) carry out a difficult and meritorious work in favor of the rural communities around the village of Mwegenywa in Rwenzori.
In addition to carrying out many tasks of assistance and education for children, the Sisters produce honey, milk, bananas, sugar cane, and, of course, coffee.
Thanks to The Omukwano Partnership that we proudly share with NUCAFE, the coffee, the fruit of their efforts, is about to be shipped to Italy and its proceeds will contribute to further support their daily work.
